About Me

Sharron Jernigan born in Palmdale, California and raised in Baltimore City, Maryland. Approximately at the age of 11, she was first introduced to art by attending her first formal drawing class at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland. In middle school, she was the recipient of a Mayor’s Citation for a painting that was displayed in city hall. After middle school, she auditioned and was accepted into the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) where she was exposed to many genres of art (both visual and performing arts).  During her time in BSA, she was one of a group of students awarded Mayor’s Citation for participating in the creation of a mural in downtown Baltimore.  After graduating from BSA, she attended MICA continuing studies program in preparation for admission into a degree-seeking program, when she realized she did not want to live the life of a “starving artist.” Therefore, she dropped out of MICA and enrolled at Coppin State College, finishing at the University of Baltimore, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management and nearly completing a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy. At that point, she was no longer insterested in completing the Master's program, she was nine credits short. On to the next adventure, LIFE!

Originally as a child, Sharron wanted to become a dermatologist and a business owner, but sadly that dream died when tragedy struck her family. The arts were always a safe haven for her to retreat too, her first love is clay, ceramics, sculpture, drawing, and painting. After marriage and having children, she began tutoring drawing to actual BSA students who she bartered with the parent for physical fitness training sessions. She tutored for 2 years.

After several years of arts and crafts with her children, she started to think about starting a business, so she established Pride Novelties, LLC in 2014, to make and sell handmade jewelry. In 2018, she renamed her business JFA Studio, LLC, to offer a wide variety of products and services, which include, but limited to drawing lessons, painting lessons, paint parties, equipment rental, custom-made t-shirts, and much more to come!

Sharron is passionate about increasing the awareness of mental health and violence against women.

Sharron believes everyone is developing their inner artist. They just need a little help taping into that creative part of oneself.

When Sharron is not creating art, she enjoys good company, good food, dancing and lots of fun.
